It is our pleasure to offer a program that is the first of its kind -- The Buddy System. This program is designed specifically for transgender and gender-expansive individuals  --  and their family members -- who are wanting to form supportive relationships with one another. The way this program works is a “big buddy” will be paired up with a “little buddy.” The terms “little” and “big” have to do with a person’s life experiences, rather than their age. This relationship is one that can include (but is not limited to) guidance, coaching, mentorship, support, and trust. Sometimes finding community can feel intimidating, and not everyone wants to attend a big support group; not everyone wants to or is able to attend therapy.

With The Buddy System, all big and little buddies will be vetted. SĀFTY will host gatherings where “big” and “little” buddies can meet one another. Everyone will have the opportunity to meet one another in a stress-free and fun environment. The relationship that is created with you and your buddy is unique to both of your needs!

This volunteer-based program is at no cost to you. It just requires you to commit at least two hours/month of your time (or whatever amount of time you and your buddy agree to).
If you are a minor and are interested in being a little buddy, parental consent is required. All big buddies must be 18 years or older, and must submit to a background check in order to qualify.
